Here are a few photos from the fifth alarm fire on West 139th St. in Manhattan yesterday. The fire broke out on the sixth floor of an apartment house and quickly spread to the cockloft. I grabbed my phone and jumped on the subway in time to get a few photos, although the job was mostly done and the engines started taking up shortly after I got there.
